Who are you texting? The importance of knowing your audience
Make your text message urgent
To make SMS text messages more powerful, urge recipients to act immediately. Set time limits, like “Sale ends Friday,” or limit quantities of items at a sale price to prompt potential customer to act without delay.
Shorter is better when texting
Your SMS message has to be less than 160 characters. Make every word count. Use buttons like “Sign up,” “RSVP” or “Get your coupon.” Use a URL shortening program to reduce the number of characters you need.

Identify the sender in your text messaging campaigns
Tech-savvy audiences today are wary of anything that could look like spam or malware. To avoid this perception, identify your organization clearly. A link to a Contact page or phone number also helps stress that you’re legit.
